Spectinomycin hydrochloride is a new parenteral antibiotic prepared from Streptomyces spectabilis. Spectinomycin hydrochloride is structurally related to aminoglycosides. Spectinomycin lacks amino sugar and glycosidic bonds. Spectinomycin has moderate antibacterial activity against many gtam positive and gram negative bacteria but Spectinomycin hydrochloride is expecially effective against Niesseria gonorrhoeae
Usage
Spectinomycin hydrochloride is an antibiotic used in the treatment and control of infectious bacterial enteritis in animals. Used in drug testing against nonreplicating mycobacterium tuberculosis.
